Gorham Vineyards is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes (clone 337) planted in 2006. Our wine is made by Margerum Wine Company in Buellton, California. Our first four years, 2008-2011, we made 100% estate Cabernet Sauvignon wine. Starting with our 2012 vintage our wines have been blended with other Bordeaux varietals from neighboring HVC vineyards. Our blend of 85% estate Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot (10%), Cab Franc (3%), Malbec (1%), and Petit Verdot (1%) introduces complexity and body to our wine. After harvest and fermentation the wine is placed in both neutral and new French oak barrels for at least 18 months before bottling. After the wine is bottled it is cool stored for an additional year before being released. Our wine is medium bodied, smooth and soft, with light fruit flavors of strawberry and blackberry and hints of vanilla.
Each vintage has its own unique differences shaped by the years climate and farming techniques, producing different subtle flavors. Below we have summarized each year since our first vintage in 2008. Our 2008-2010 vintages were very small and the cases available are very limited. By 2012 the vineyard was producing consistently between 100 to 150 cases each year.
